Green Building
Green Building has become a household term with the general concern over what is happening to our global climate. Most anyone undertaking a construction project these days want to be as “green” as they can be. The big question is where to be green and how much can one afford? Environmentally conscience building materials and alternative energy systems generally cost more than traditional construction, therefore not everyone can afford to be as green as Kermit the Frog. Beckwith Builders will work with you to find the most effective ways to use your “green” budget. Because Crested Butte lies in a high mountain valley (~9000 ft above sea level), homes are heated for much of the year and energy consumption over the life of a home is a large part of the carbon footprint. Therefore, Beckwith Builders primary focus is to construct a tight building envelope that limits air infiltration while insulating the home as much as possible. We can then bring in alternative energy systems and recycled/reclaimed materials to limit the impact your new home will create.
